About the trek

Kedarkantha Peak is Situated in the lofty Garhwal Himalayas, the Kedarkantha peak offers a very accessible trek, any time of the year. The Kedarkantha Trek takes you on a memorable journey starting with the Govind National Park which is a treasure house of flora and fauna such as leopards, bears, musk deer and many birds! The uniqueness of this trek lies in the way it mixes beautiful scenery with a challenging route. Days will be warm but nights are to watch out for as sub-zero temperatures are a common phenomenon. All the challenges aside, at an altitude of 3800m/12,500 feet, the trek promises a sweeping view from the peak.

  • Day 1: Dehradun to Sankari Drive
    Drive from Dehradun to Sankri/Saur (1920mt) through the Yamuna and Tons valleys across the Yamuna bridge and eye pleasing view of beautiful dense pine forests. Trekkers will reach Sankri in the evening, which is the best time to look out for the sun setting behind the mountain ranges. Sankri base camp gives a beautiful view of all the four peaks in swargarohini range. Overnight camping in sankri under the clear sky covered with millions of stars.
  • Day 2: Sankari to Juda Lake By Trek
    The trekkers will start their ascend after having breakfast from village Saur with pack lunch. The trail passes through dense pine forests, maple trees, a few streams and finally opens out to a beautiful Juda Ka Talab (Juda lake) . Juda ka talab is almost too perfect in its setting as a campsite, with a large lake to your left and a dense oak and pine forest to your right.
  • Day 3: Juda Lak to Kedarkantha Base(Lohasu)
    With packed lunch, to Bainya (Kedarkantha 3836mt). You could either opt for the steep climb of Bainya Thach, which is a path with beautiful views, Once you reach the Kedarkantha base, look out for white peaks that stretch from your left to right forming a wide arc. Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala Nag and Ranglana stand among the others. Kedakantha base offers one of the best views of the night sky. Camp overnight under a blanket of stars, with shooting stars making streaks across the sky wishing you goodnight.
  • Day 4: Kedarkantha Base to Kedarkantha Peak Summit And Descend to Juda Lake(4/5hrs)
    This climb is a challenging one as it will be an early morning summit push. The trekkers will get a perfect reward for this effort with breathtaking sunrise view over the entire western Himalayan range. The trail to the summit is straigh forward through a small patch of oak trees. A few feet short of the summit, you can spot a temple with idols of lord Shiva and Parvathi. The summit is a five minute climb from the shrine. It is marked by a cairn with a shiv Trishul & Ganesh murati that points to the sky. Spend some time at the summit and descend back to the base camp by noon for lunch. The trail down to Bainya bugiyal is spectacular as it ascends and descends through oaks, pines and frozen streams. Reach Bainya bugiyal /Juda Lake by evening and camp for the night.
  • Day 5: Juda Lake to Sankri by Trek
    The trail down to Juda Lake/ Bainya Bugiyal passes through a series of switch backs, farms, and a ridge. It is one of the most beautiful descending trails that Himalayas has to offer. This trial offers you the view of entire Himalayan range for one last time. After trekking for 5 km you will reach Sankri.
  • Day 6: Sankari to Dehradun by Taxi Travel
    Board a bus or taxi from Sankri to Dehradun early morning.

Mandatory Documents

Original and photocopy of government photo identity card- (Passport, Aadhaar Card, Driving license or voters ID, Medical Certificate)

If cancellations are made 30 days before the start date of the trip, 25% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

If cancellations are made 15-30 days before the start date of the trip, 50% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

If cancellations are made within 0-15 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain trips or activities may get cancelled. In such cases operator will try their best to provide an alternate feasible. However a cash refund will not be applicable for the same.
